Jack Watson was my surrogate Grandfather. The man could tell stories like no other human on earth, and considering most of his tales revolved around topics like WWII, Korea, moving from the state of Michigan to the territory of New Mexico as a small child, sitting on the bench of the New Mexico State Supreme Court and unpleasant run ins with Georgia O’Keefe, you know the tales were absolutely entrancing!
This photo was taken in Jack’s kitchen in the late summer of 2002. Dad had come to Albuquerque to attend his Air Force Pararescue Reunion and we (Peter, Me, Robert, Mirth and Jack) all met up in Santa Fe. Dad was thrilled to be on a small vacation and in a great mood the whole time. This huge smile is what I will always picture when I think of Peter…

Peter and the girls at his cabin in 2006. The cabin was located close to Boulder Junction – in the Natural Lakes area. I took this photo in 2006 on a weekend trip up North.
I remember dad ALWAYS added wheat germ. Gotta make it healthy. I was about 2 when this was taken. I had to learn how to flip pancakes, and I’m proud to say I’m the best damn pancake flipper I know. Well, I can only hope. Also, dad always managed to procure the most amazing maple syrup. Never super dark and too sweet, but amber colored with the perfect amount of sweetness. I think that dad turned me off from overly sweet things. Gotta eat those “jetchtables”!
Incredible photo of Brock at The Carnelian Room, with the famous Transamerica Pyramid building in the background. I have no other info on this photo – I stole it off of flickr. The photographer is one of Brock’s friends that I met last summer in Seattle – here’s a link to his flickr site:

Fritz with Lisa, Bela and Gretchen at La Fonda for Peter and Mirth’s wedding. It’s hard to tell in this teeny tiny photo, but Fritz is wearing moccasins instead of dress shoes. According to the stories I’ve heard from Mirth, Peter forgot to bring dress shoes for the wedding but didn’t realize it until it was time to go to the ceremony. Fritz offered up his dress shoes so that his brother wouldn’t have to walk down the aisle in moccasins. Mirth also had her own mini crisis the day of the ceremony – she woke up and was unable to hear anything! She was rushed to the doctor and told that she had too much wax in her ear canals. They were able to flush her ears out and get her back downtown in time to get dressed and ready to walk over to Sena Plaza for the big event.
I suppose the ironic part about the moccasin story is that 35 years later Peter would walk down the aisle wearing moccasins on purpose. Life sure is strange, isn’t it?! You just never know…

If I remember correctly, this portrait was taken at the Marshall Field’s photo studio. Mary had won a free sitting and she wanted us to do a portrait for Peter’s birthday gift. I’m pretty certain that Mary was pregnant with Elizabeth in this shot – or was about to be! If my dates are correct, I was 19 and Mary was 29. I have always thought that Mary looks like Princess Diana in this photo and that I look stoned (probably from inhaling all that Sebastian Shaper hair spray I was addicted to…).
